ST. CROIX, VI – Disaster has a way of sharpening the mind. In light of the recent of hurricanes, floods, and the potential impact of earthquakes and tsunamis in the U.S. Virgin Islands, we are reminded that there is no time like the present to think about all the things that could go wrong. The best time to prepare your household is when the sky is clear, and your weekend is free, not when Emergency Alerts are being sent due to approaching hurricanes. Preparation now, rather than later makes sense. See the attachment for tips to prepare your home and property for disasters.
**Remember - We also want to hear from YOU, the citizens! When our Tip of the Week is posted on the VITEMA and FEMA U.S. Virgin Islands Facebook pages, feel free to respond to our posts and share what you have done to implement our tip (i.e. photos, videos, etc.). You are also encouraged to share your implementation of the Tip of the Week on your personal page; be sure to tag VITEMA in your posts. Each week, we will select one post to be featured on the VITEMA website. We look forward to hearing from you!
