National Preparedness Month - Make a Plan (Day #3)

September 13, 2019

Make a plan today. Your family may not be together if a disaster strikes, so it is important to know what to do. U.S. Virgin Islands residents are advised to:

  • Download a group texting app so your entire circle of family and friends can keep in touch before, during & after an emergency.
  • Practice sheltering in place with elderly family members and neighbors. Allowing elderly residents to spend periods of time with you now, will help to develop familiarity and reduce anxiety during an emergency.
  • Be prepared. Register for Alert VI to receive alerts for emergencies and weather impacting the U.S. Virgin Islands. You can receive alerts via landline, cell phone calls, text messages, emails and on TTY devices. Visit https://www.ready.gov/make-a-plan #PreparedNotScared #PrepareNow #BeReady </http:>
