VITEMA Town Hall Meetings to Continue on St. Thomas and Water Island

February 3, 2020

U.S. Virgin Islands – Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) Director, Daryl D. Jaschen will continue to host earthquake preparedness town hall meetings on St. Thomas and Water Island this week. Dates, times and locations for the St. John town hall meetings will be announced once coordination has been finalized.

The town hall meetings are a VITEMA community engagement and earthquake preparedness initiative launched in St. Croix on Jan. 23. Each meeting provides opportunities for the community to engage the technical experts at VITEMA and receive first-hand disaster preparedness plans, information and tips in addition to Alert VI registration and account maintenance assistance.

VITEMA has collaborated with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Disability Integration Team and Office of Equal Rights to have American Sign Language Interpreters on hand. We encourage everyone, including citizens with disabilities and those with access and functional needs to attend the town halls.
