VITEMA TERRITORY-WIDE OFFICE OPERATIONS SUSPENDED
Agency Participates in Capstone Exercise, June 1–5, 2026
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands — The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) announces that territory-wide office operations will be suspended from Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5, 2026, as the agency conducts its annual Capstone Exercise, which ensures Hurricane readiness for the territory. The closure affects all VITEMA offices across St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John.
The Capstone Exercise is a comprehensive, multi-day training exercise designed to evaluate VITEMA’s hurricane emergency response capabilities, test inter-agency coordination, and strengthen the Territory’s overall preparedness posture. Agency personnel will be fully engaged in exercise operations throughout the closure period.
During this period, routine administrative services will be unavailable. However, VITEMA’s emergency operations and public safety communications remain fully active. In the event of a real-world emergency, residents should dial 9-1-1 immediately.
Normal office operations are expected to resume on Monday, June 8, 2026. For general inquiries, the public may visit www.vitema.vi.gov or follow VITEMA on social media for updates.
